There is a dead pixel on my Eizo monitor, is it covered under warranty?

Q. There is a dead pixel on my Eizo monitor, is it covered under warranty?

A. Unfortunately due to the limitations with LCD technology it is not possible to guarantee monitors will be free of any pixel defects. The LCD panel has a specification set by the manufacturer.

Eizo monitors do cover the failure of a full RGB pixel. However it does not cover the failure of a sub or partial lit pixel.
Each pixel on a monitor is made up of 3 sub pixels (R, G, B). If you see a small coloured dot then it is more likely to be a sub pixel.
The best way to test this is for you to save the image below and open in 'Paint' as this program is not colour-managed, then drag the Red, Green & Blue squares over the dead pixel, if the dot changes colour this will confirm it is indeed a sub pixel.
If the dot on screen remains dark it can either mean it is a full RGB pixel failure or indeed a Foreign Object/Scratch.
As with missing pixels, LCD panel manufactures also have specifications on what is and not acceptable for Foreign Objects/Scratches. Ascertaining if a warranty failure is more complex as each item has to be measured and counted. In these cases we would recommend you contact us so we can get the unit back for inspection.
